Community Stakeholders Get District Budget Update

MORENO VALLEY>> The Local Control Funding Formula is the “new” schools funding method that takes into account the special needs of school districts with high numbers of English language learners, foster children and students from economically challenged households. One of the best parts about it is the requirement to involve community stakeholders in the budgeting process. "While many districts struggle to involve parents and others, we at MVUSD welcome the process because we already have great parent and community involvement," said Tim McGillivray, Public Information Officer for Moreno Valley Unified School District. "Stakeholders were updated on this year’s Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), which details how we’re using the additional funding we receive." Some of the presentation was made by students and teachers to give stakeholders a better real-world sense of how that funding is improving what happens in the classroom.
