On Saturday, October 21st, 2017, the Moreno Valley High School Air Force JROTC Color Guard presented the Colors at a conference held especially for Female Veterans, which took place at the Moreno Valley Conference Center. The four-person team consisted of Cadet Casandra Ramirez commanding, Cadet Holly Trojanowski, Cadet Vanessa Morales, and Cadet Imelda Dominguez.
Overall, all of us could agree that the event was truly memorable. It was sponsored by the Veterans Affairs Loma Linda Women Veterans Healthcare Program to inform about opportunities and support offered for the female veterans. The room was filled with veterans from all the services: Air Force, Navy, Army, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
We marched up the stage and presented the colors through “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the Pledge of Allegiance, “America the Beautiful,” and an invocation. After this, we were invited to stay for lunch and the rest of the event.
In all, we enjoyed the experience because we learned a great deal about the programs offered for the women defenders of freedom and met many inspiring people.
