MVHS: Girls soccer, the Mountain Valley League champs, won their first-round playoff game at home 2-1 against The Webb Schools of Claremont. The league-champion girls basketball team opens the playoffs tomorrow night at home against West Covina. CSHS: Girls basketball ended another great season with a close first-round playoff loss on the road at Ventura. The defending state champion Cougs finished the year 18-8 overall. VVHS: Girls basketball travels to Santa Ana tomorrow to meet Segerstrom. VDLHS: Girls soccer is moving on to the second round after double sudden death and a shootout against Rolling Hills Prep from San Pedro gave the Ravens a 2-1 victory. Goalie Kelly Sassaman was a ball magnet, making four penalty-kick saves and even scoring one for Vista. Kelly’s also a 4.0 student! Girls basketball finished their season last week with a first-round playoff loss to Pacifica, but heads are held high as the Ravens had not made playoffs for years and fought hard to earn their way back in.
