Moreno Valley Fire Captain Shane Frederick, who is assigned to Fire Station 2 (Sunnymead), has been deployed to Texas to assist with rescue and recovery efforts related to Hurricane Harvey.

Frederick is part of California Task Force 6 Urban Search and Rescue, one of 28 National Task Forces and one of eight in California that respond as either FEMA or as a California EMA resource during emergencies requiring highly skilled search and rescue personnel.

Captain Frederick is a Swift Water Rescue Specialist and will be one of 19 CA-Task Force 6 rescuers actively engaged in performing lifesaving missions.

Please keep Capt. Frederick in your thoughts as he is deployed to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey which has destroyed more than 40,000 homes in Houston and the surrounding areas. More than 13,000 people have already been rescued with many more awaiting rescue.

We look forward to Capt. Frederick's safe return to our community.
