On Tuesday, Jan. 26 between 5:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. the city of Moreno Valley and the surrounding 27 cities of Riverside County will participate in the "Point-In-Time" (PIT) count to end chronic homelessness.
The PIT utilizes the efforts of volunteers to count and survey the homeless persons living in the community. This effort will help promote government and private grant funding and other resources for local communities to help people exit life on the streets and prevent homelessness.
The city of Moreno Valley and members of Riverside County’s Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) are looking for adult volunteers to participate in the event. They seek volunteers who would like to help alleviate homelessness, ranging from college students, civic/non-profit organizations, services providers, bilingual individuals, faith base institutions, business and neighborhood groups, current or former homeless.
Participants in the event will work on Street Counter teams to identity locations where homeless people live, spend time, and receive services. Additionally, participants will promote community awareness on homeless issues.
