SBVC Women’s Soccer: Hernandez Signs Letter of Intent

San Bernardino Valley College somen’s soccer sophomore midfielder Katie Hernandez (Beaumont High School) has signed a letter of intent with Kansas Wesleyan University. Hernandez, a Second Team All-Foothill Conference selection, scored six goals and assisted on five others. She will join teammate sophomore forward Cynthia Chavez (Cathedral City High School) who signed with KWU in May. The team finished the season ranked 11th in the nation by the NSCAA, and were ranked fourth in Southern California and sixth in the state. Ending the year with a 15-2-6 overall record and a 7-0-3 conference record. They were rewarded with a #8 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. As a reward for their sixth Conference Championship, the team was bestowed with four first team All-Conference honors and four second team All-Conference honors. Kansas Wesleyan University is located in Salina, Kansas, which is about 85 miles north of Wichita and about 180 miles west of Kansas City, Missouri. The Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes play at Bissell Field, and the team is coached by second-year coach, Blake Reynolds. In the 2014 season, the Coyotes went 8-0-1 in conference play, with an overall record of 13-5-2. The Coyotes ended the 2014 with a tie in the the KCAC Tournament Championship. KWU is in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference of NAIA.
