Riverside Community Hospital (RCH) hosted the 6th Annual Red Dress Fashion Show and Health Expo named “Beauty from the Inside Out” at the end of February.
Around 1,000 women gathered for the event at the Riverside Convention Center to learn about strokes and heart disease.
The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of heart disease in women and to educate them on the unique symptoms, risks factors, signs and warnings of heart disease.
As part of our fashion show, RCH has partnered with a few of Riverside’s Downtown clothing and fashion boutiques and Riverside Community College’s Cosmetology School who worked under the direction of one of Hollywood’s most sought after international makeup artist, Edgar Santos.
Santos is a premier makeup artist in the entertainment industry. His resume includes working with top fashion designers, celebrities, important and influential individuals in the entertainment industries, award shows such as the Golden Globes, the Emmy’s and Oscar’s, and has made guest appearances on Good Day LA, E! Style Network, Jenny Jones Show, MTV and many more.
All attendees had the opportunity to visit educational vendor booths, workshops and whilst taking advantage of cardiac risk health screenings.
In addition, the ladies were served a lunch while hearing from Riverside Community Hospital’s Board Certified Cardiologists, physicians and special guest speaker Diana Wehbe, CEO and Founder of the Purpose Foundation.
In 2012, Diana was considered overweight and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and Ovarian Cancer. Through healthy lifestyle changes and healthy eating, she lost over 100 pounds in 10 months.
The event concluded with an elegant “Red Dress” Fashion Show which included some of the prominent and influential women from the community, and stories from recent heart attack survivors.
All proceeds from the event go to benefit the American Heart Association.
