Each year the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) honors educators across the state that represent excellence and commitment to their fields. The Val Verde Unified School District is excited to congratulate Michael McCormick, Assistant Superintendent of Education Services, for receiving the ACSA Curriculum & Instruction Administrator of the Year Award, and Caryn Lewis, Principal of Victoriano Elementary School, for receiving the Principal of the Year Award. Mike McCormick has worked with the Val Verde Unified School District for over 18 years. In that time, he has served as the Assistant Principal and Principal for Vista Verde Middle School, and Rancho Verde High School. He was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Education Services in 2009. “I am humbled by this recognition, and grateful to work with an amazing team of educators. It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by a team of your colleagues. This award is proof of the support I get every day from The Val Verde Unified School District, the Education Services team, and the Administration team. None the initiative and passion we all have for student success.” Caryn Lewis has been a principal with Val Verde Unified School District for four years. Prior to working at Victoriano Elementary School, she was the K-12 Coordinator of Educational Services with the Riverside County Office of Education. For five years, she worked closely with the Val Verde Unified School District providing professional development for teachers and administrators to support instructional programs. “It is a tremendous honor to receive ACSA’s Administrator of the Year Award in this category. I have the privilege of working with an amazing team of educators who dedicate their time and talents to the success of all children. To be recognized as an “Every Student Succeeding” recipient is a tribute to our shared vision. Each day is a rewarding experience for me, and this award is a great reminder of the opportunity we have all been given – the opportunity to help our students reach their personal and academic goals.” The Superintendent Juan Lòpez said, “Val Verde Unified School District works hard every day to assure that we are providing quality education to our students. With leaders like Mr. McCormick, and Ms. Lewis, I know our students have an outstanding opportunity to be college and career ready.”
