VHMS’s new Cheer Squad Starts out on Top

For many years Vista Heights Dance and Drill team has been one of the premier Middle School programs in the Inland Empire. The team successfully competed at both regional and national dance competitions for a number of years. As successful as they were, however, Vista wanted to create a highly competitive program that was accessible to more students, so they transitioned the program this year to cheer – and the new team couldn’t have had a better start. This year, the Wildcats have competed in three competitions, finishing first or second in every event. At the recent Sharp Competition held at Vista del Lago, they won first place the Advanced Middle School division, first place among Middle Schools, and first place overall, with a score of 91.75. This is quite an accomplishment for this group of girls, many of whom have no previous cheer experience. The champion Wildcats are led by advisor Donna Solomon and coaches April Hasson, Najette Brunson, Lauren Hasson, Dominique Jenkins and Madeline McPeak, who have managed to develop a winning program in less than one year.
