MORENO VALLEY>> The volunteered-based community project known as the "M" Landmark Improvement Project, led by Moreno Valley's Parks Commissioner James C. Baker II and sponsored by the Moreno Valley Noon Rotary Club, has met their goal to improve the Annual "M" Light Show for 2016. The giant "M" landmark at the Box Spring Mountain Park recently received an upgrade in time for the light show. "For the last three years, we've used 3/4 inch galvanized pipes," said Baker, organizer of the group. "This year, we have increased the pole count from 13 temporary extension poles to 21 8-foot permanent sign poles. This will increase our light count from 39 lights to a whopping 63 lights." The increase of lights will include more low powered, low heat and brighter LED lights. The lights will light up the "M" Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. and will continue to illuminate until Jan. 3, 2017. The annual event also marks the anniversary of the city. Moreno Valley officially became a city Dec. 3, 1984. "I can't wait to see it," Baker said. "Should be a pretty good light show. Happy Holidays."
