A combined team of young engineers and teachers from Canyon Springs and Vista del Lago high schools finished an outstanding 4th out of 40 teams at the annual Solar Cup. For months, the team designed and built a solar-powered boat and then raced it on Temecula’s Lake Skinner against 39 other teams from across Southern California. The MVUSD team won the 200-meter sprint and finished 2nd in the challenging 1.6 km endurance event! They also won the Technical Report category and came in 2nd in the Public Service Announcement category. Congratulations to CSHS students Uriel Escobar, Allan Yanez, Carlos Vasquez, Matthew Nieburger, Mehdi Kazi, Shannon Chee, Loren Gumawid, Rudy Perez, Fernando Granados, and VLHS’s Jesus Garcia; and teachers Divino Elbo (CSHS) and Dave Susuras (VLHS).
