Moreno Valley Unified School District is proud to announce that Jorgina Medina, president of the MVUSD District English Learner Advisory Committee, has been selected as the Parent of the Year by the California Association for Bilingual Education. Medina is the parent of three children, two of whom are currently enrolled in the MVUSD. “Jorgina Medina is among the most involved parents I’ve ever met,” said Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services, Dr. Martinrex Kedziora. “To every position she’s held, from classroom volunteer to DELAC president, she brings such positive energy, and a commitment to the belief that all children can learn and that parents and educators have a shared responsibility to work together to make it happen.” Medina has been an active advocate for bilingual education as a parent volunteer on school site committees and ELAC at Creekside Elementary, Vista Heights Middle School and Moreno Valley High School. She is the mother of an MVUSD graduate and two middle-school children. CABE is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1976 to promote bilingual education and high-quality educational experiences for all California students. It has 5,000 members and more than 60 chapters/affiliates. Medina will be honored at the annual CABE conference, set this year for San Diego, March 4-7.
