Each month from October to April, MVUSD and Val Verde Unified get together at the MVUSD Board Room for the Student of the Month luncheon sponsored by the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce to recognize an outstanding student from each high school. Recently, all the students of the month, their families, school leadership and area dignitaries gathered at Val Verde High School for the Students of the Year dinner. Several speakers noted how unusual it is for two neighboring school districts to work together so closely to honor their students. Congratulations to all the Students of the Month, and to this year’s Students of the Year: Audesie Butler (Bayside), Mehdi Kazi (CSHS), Veronica De La Torre (MMHS), Mariana Yepez (MVHS), Wesley Poon (VVHS), Vanessa Ruvalcaba (VDLHS), Jacqueline Yanez (CHHS), Bryan Lov (RVHS), Cynthia Rubio Nuñez (Val Verde), Alicia Becerra-Romero (Val Verde Academy) and Jonathan Dietz (Middle College High School). Thanks is also given to the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce and President Oscar Valdepeña for making it all possible.
