MORENO VALLEY>> The City of Moreno Valley will host its 9th Annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Moreno Valley Veterans Memorial on Friday, Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m. to honor those who have selflessly served the nation in all branches of the military. Commander Sean O'Donnell of Navy Operational Support Center Moreno Valley will be the keynote speaker. The Moreno Valley Veterans Memorial is located at Memorial Circle at the Moreno Valley Civic Center, 14177 Frederick Street, Moreno Valley. In addition to O'Donnell's remarks, attendees can look forward to a memorable program including the recognition of Larry Froehlich as the 2016 Heroes for Heroes award winner. The Heroes for Heroes program honors the significant efforts of individuals or non-profit organizations to benefit veterans, reserve and active duty military personnel. Moreno Elementary School's California Cadet Corps, 321st Battalion will present colors and perform one of their award-winning drills. Moreno Elementary School's California Cadet Program is the only public elementary school in the state to participate in the program. The Moreno Valley Master Chorale will perform several patriotic songs and melodies. The Moreno Valley Master Chorale was founded in 1986 to produce, promote and preserve the live choral experience and is active with several annual performances and participation in many City of Moreno Valley and regional events. Moreno Valley College student Delene Cone will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner." The 20-year resident is a source of pride for the College and for Remnant Worship Center in Moreno Valley where she serves as a praise and worship leader. The Chaparral Hills Elementary School Choir will perform patriotic songs. The choir is a thriving performing arts group which has grown out of Moreno Valley Unified School District's focus on championing the arts. The community will also be able to enjoy a Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive. Since 2004, volunteers at March Air Reserve Base's Hangar 385 have made sure members of our military are sent off on deployment and welcomed back to the states with a "little bit of home." To support their hospitality effort, the city will be accepting donations of jars of peanut butter and jelly for departing and returning troops. The City of Moreno Valley would like to thank the volunteers from the Riverside County Fire Explorer program and the Soroptimist International of Moreno Valley club whose hard work helped to make this year's Veterans Day ceremony possible.
