The city congratulated Amazon on Sept. 24, as they celebrated successfully establishing operations at their Moreno Valley fulfillment center, located at San Michele Road and Indian Street in the Moreno Valley South Industrial Area. Developed by Trammell Crow Company, the Amazon Fulfillment Center is an award-winning 1,250,000 square foot fulfillment center on 75 acres in Moreno Valley. Moreno Valley's Amazon Fulfillment Center, known as "Ont 6," is part of an extensive network of distribution facilities that serve more than 40 million customers. Completed in 2014, the facility houses more than 14 miles of conveyors, and employees work seamlessly with custom software that directs the most efficient placement, retrieval, and shipping of products throughout the facility. Products shipped from Ont 6 fulfill standard orders, plus all West Coast orders for apparel, shoes, handbags, and accessories are distributed from Amazon's Moreno Valley location. During the celebration, Amazon reported that more than 3,000 full-time positions have been created at the facility. Michelle Godwin, Amazon's Director of Fulfillment, complimented the quality workforce they've found in the Inland Empire. Mayor Jesse Molina responded in his comments, "Job creation is the highest priority for the Moreno Valley City Council. Amazon's substantial employment growth is making a significant positive impact on our economy and we celebrate that Amazon, with 3,000 employees strong, is now our largest private employer!"
