MORENO VALLEY>> More than 150 people attended the Southwest Veterans’ Business Resource Center’s (SWVBRC) 6th Annual Small Business Summit in Moreno Valley on Wednesday, Feb. 15. “As a community working to boost its economy with an aggressive economic development team, we understand the importance of this awesome effort to improve the regional economy, the bottom-line for businesses, and the ability of our veteran population to, not only provide for their families, but to provide well for their families as they develop their entrepreneurial spirit with determination and education,” Moreno Valley Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez told attendees during his opening remarks. Gutierrez said the city is grateful for organizations like Southwest Veterans Business Resource Center who work hard to drive the collective effort to raise the economic bar for business, veterans and families. Daniel C. Kim, director of California’s Department of General Services, was the keynote speaker. The department serves as the state of California's business manager. During the summit, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Marine Corps Band delighted the crowd with a lunchtime performance. The SWVBRC works with communities and businesses to serve veterans, active duty members and spouses through outreach and education programs.
