SBVC (6-14; 3-5) put together a solid effort early, winning the first set, then struggled the rest of the way as the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (16-10; 6-1) took the match in four, 18-25, 25-19, 25-18 and 25-22. Wednesday Nov. 4 was Sophomore Night as SBVC honored its final season in the Women's Gym as the team will take up residence in the new gym being built at the beginning of the 2016 fall sports season. SBVC opened the first set with a great effort as they battled the Foothill Conference leaders to take a first set victory, 25-18. During the second and third set, the home side struggled, but they worked bravely together as a team and began rallies that fell just a bit short. In the fourth set, SBVC played back-and-forth as they attempted to regain control of the contested match-up. Unfortunately, the home side would fall late in the final set. Freshman setter Nayeli Hernandez (San Bernardino Aquinas) led the team with 26 assists, had three block assists and a service ace and freshman libero Valerie Navarrete (Fontana A.B. Miller) led the team with 15 digs and a service ace. Freshman outside hitter Daeja Lewis (Redlands East Valley) had two kills and a service ace and a block assist and freshman outside hitter Roslynn Hamilton (Moreno Valley Vista del Lago) had seven kills and eight digs. Freshman outside hitter Stephanie Gilbert (Moreno Valley Vista Del Lago) led the team with 10 kills, two service aces and three block assists and freshman middle blocker Ariana Cole (Fontana Azariel Blanchard Miller) had eight kills, two service aces and two block assists. Sophomore middle blocker Yamiq Myles (Moreno Valley Vista del Lago) had eight kills, a solo block and five block assists.
