MORENO VALLEY>> The City of Moreno Valley is hosting its first Community Day of Service on Saturday, Feb. 25, as residents of all ages work together to beautify the Moreno Valley community. Participants can grab their paint brushes and rakes to get ready to make a difference in the city. Two projects are available that are designed to enhance the quality of life in two areas of the city. Volunteers can chose which event they would like to participate in and projects are designed for all ages. The first event is to help spruce up Hidden Springs Park on Saturday, Feb. 25 between 8 a.m. and noon. Hidden Springs Park is located at 9675 Hidden Springs Drive, Moreno Valley, and participants are encouraged to bring rakes, shovels and gloves. The second event is to help give March Field Community Center a face-lift with a new coat of paint and newly planted trees on Saturday, Feb. 25 between 8 a.m. and noon. The March Field Park Community Center is located at 15325 5th Street, Moreno Valley, and participants are encouraged to bring paint brushes, rollers and gloves. Refreshments will be provided for all volunteers. To participate in Moreno Valley's Community Day of Service, participants are asked to email mymoval@moval.org to register as an individual or group. "If you can't participate in the beautification events, you can still help make Moreno Valley beautiful by bringing your unwanted mattresses, dryers, washing machines, and other bulky items to the City's Bulky Waste Clean Up Event," said Shanna Palau, City Council Office, in a press release. The Bulky Waste Clean Up Event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at Vista del Lago High School, located at 15150 Lasselle St., Moreno Valley, CA 92551. Acceptable items include washing machines/dryers, TVs, microwaves, air conditioners, computers, refrigerators, freezers, chairs, couches, tables, box springs, mattresses, barbecue/patio furniture, bundled branches and bagged green waste. Waste Management and Eastern Municipal Water District are sponsoring the events.
