Educators, parents and fellow students bid happy "see you laters" to the graduating Moreno Valley Unified School District and Val Verde Unified School District class of 2015 last week. At Moreno Valley Unified, March Mountain High School had kicked off a week of successful graduations. Fact: March Valley/March Mountain features an accelerated-learning option that allows students to get ahead in their education, and Principal Sean McMurray reported that MMHS had more juniors graduate this year than ever before! Additionally, Moreno Valley High School's annual Advancement Via Individual Determination graduation event featured the largest AVID contingent of any school in the nation, including 105 AVID seniors, near an all-time high at MVHS. The AVID class of 2015 at Moreno Valley High boasted 350 college acceptances from schools including UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSB, UC Irvine and UCSD, and a record $1.8 million in college scholarships and grants. Meanwhile, Val Verde Unified School District Superintendent Juan M. López on his blog congratulated the VVUSD class of 2015. "We have successfully wrapped up another school year and graduated a fantastic senior class. Graduations are a really emotional time full of reflection on what these students have accomplished... Every staff member at Val Verde has played a role in the accomplishments of our students. Our certificated staff spend countless hours preparing lessons and providing instruction; while our classified staff maintain our sites, protect students and staff, prepare meals and take care of the many administrative functions that must occur in order to keep a site and the District moving forward." López thanked all who had a positive influence and impact on VVUSD students.
