Get “Behind the Scenes” on Jan. 16 and 17 at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris for a fun filled and fascinating annual event, where the museum gives visitors special access and tours of locomotives, passenger and freight cars, streetcars, interurban electric cars and artifacts dating back to 1870. At Behind the Scenes, in addition to special access and tours, visitors can ride unlimited trains and trolleys as well as enter the pit and go underneath a street car to see how it all works. They can further visit Ruffulo Carhouse 7, a restoration barn filled with trains and trolleys that is not usually open to the public and see the progress on historic conservation projects, including ATSF 108 FP45 locomotive. For an additional fee, visitors can get behind the throttle (under supervision) and run a real locomotive. Behind The Scenes coincides with Steam Weekend so visitors will see a real steam locomotive in operation and get to ride behind the powerful VC #2. This gated event supports museum operations and the continued restoration of historic rail cars and rail line. Admission is $12 for ages 12 and up, $8 for ages 5 – 11, ages 4 and under are free.
