MORENO VALLEY>> Moreno Valley is providing a new incentive for local businesses to hire local residents who have recently graduated from college or earned a certification from an accredited Riverside County school. The Hire A MoVal Grad program provides businesses who hire Moreno Valley graduates (a total of five employees are allowed) with a stipend of up to $1,000. “This program will help put our educated and talented youth to work right here in city of Moreno Valley,” said Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez. “A small investment in our youth today will translate into rich dividends for our workforce and our future.” In order to be considered for the MoVal Grad program, businesses must have a license to do business in the city of Moreno Valley, and the resident must have worked at their position for at least 6 months, and must put in at least 35 hours a week. The Hire A MoVal program is expected to cost $50,000 a year. Incentives will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Providing incentives for business owners to hire local residents is only part of what Hire MoVal does. The program also grants business owners access to workforce recruitment services, job announcements, and job fairs. Eligible businesses will receive significant discounts to their electricity bill or receive a business license fee waiver. The Hire MoVal program is expected to run from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019.
