Forward Sean Backman Stays in AEG Family, Joins Eisbären Berlin

MORENO VALLEY>> The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forward Sean Backman has joined AEG’s Eisbären Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

“Sean has been a tremendous asset for our American League affiliate since he first arrived in 2013 and helped us win division titles and a league championship,” said LA Kings Senior Advisor to the General Manager and Development Mike O’Connell.  

“As a player with world class speed, Sean will provide solid two-way play, timely scoring and leadership for the Eisbären as we build the foundation between our two 

organizations in Berlin and Los Angeles.”

Backman, 31, skated the last four seasons with the Kings’ AHL affiliate in Manchester and Ontario scoring 159 points (62 goals, 97 assists) in 282 games and helped capture a Calder Cup Championship in 2015. 

Last season, the White Plains, New York, native grabbed 34 points (12 goals, 22 assists) in 67 games with the Reign.
