There's Snow in Moreno Valley!

It began to look a lot like Christmas, a white Christmas that is, at the Moreno Valley Recreation Center this past Saturday, Dec. 12. The annual event brought in a myriad of community members eager to play in the snow, eat some funnel cakes, and participate in the various holiday festivities. Aside from the two giant pits filled with snow just waiting to be played in, about a dozen local vendors set up camp selling a wide range of snacks from popcorn and soda to funnel cakes and hot chocolate. The Yeboah family of Moreno Valley came to the event with one goal in mind: to get in the Christmas spirit by playing in the snow. Although they are four-year Moreno Valley residents, this was their first time attending the Snow Day event, and they shared that they couldn't be more excited. Jeanetta Yeboah brought her three kids Elijah, 12, Joshua, 5, and Esther, 4. Joshua was really eager to get into the pit and play in the snow. While continuously asking if it was their turn yet, he shared, "I'm so excited." "We didn't get to come last year," Jeanetta said "Since we never get snow here, they're so excited that they get to play in the snow this year." "Plus the cold and windy weather that Saturday morning made the snow seem much more realistic," she said. As they were waiting for their 11 a.m. session in the snow, they stood in line to watch the previous session of kids making snowmen and snow angels. The Moreno Valley Folklorico dancers also made an appearance. Community members grabbed their hot chocolate and gathered around the stage to watch their special performance. Just across from the snow pits, children were joining in on different holiday craft projects along with face paintings and even a bounce house.
