The choir program at Moreno Valley High School recently shared a few musical and educational experiences. Last week, members from both the advanced mixed ensemble and the advanced women's ensemble toured the Riverside City College, Coil School for the Arts. They met the director of Choral Activities John Byun.

The students heard about the music education program at the school and the opportunities available to students who attend RCC. The students then were able to experience a vocal jazz soundcheck, rehearsal and RCC's Fall Concert in the evening.

“The students were amazed at the level of music making that they heard and came home excited to improve their participation in the program and to learn music with increased difficulty,” said MVHS Choral Director Erika Jackson.

On Saturday, three young men from the MVHS choir program attended the Cal State Fullterton Men's Choir Festival. The three joined other young men throughout Southern California to learn and perform in an informal concert. The festival choir was made up of high school and college level male singers who enjoy choral music.

“These experiences allowed students to see what a music program is like at a university, and opens up so many doors and possibilities for them and they are excited for a possible future at a university,” Erika Jackson added.
