MORENO VALLEY>> Soroptimist International of Moreno Valley has started the New Year of 2017 doing exactly what their name means: “A global volunteer network of women in 130 countries and territories who work to improve the lives of women and girls”. The organization strives to be women at their best, helping other women to be their best. They do this by improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Most recently, they presented a $2,000 check to their Live your Dream Award winner, Devin, to help her with expenses incurred while achieving her bachelor’s degree. Devin’s story has helped in making her one of the finalists at the Golden West Region level, to be awarded in June 2017. On Wednesday, March 15, they will be celebrating the completion of the “Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls” seven week program held at Bayside Community Day School which includes professional women from the SI Club who present information and motivation for the girls to place them on the right path for the career of their choices. These types of programs are the reason why the Soroptimists schedule Fundraising events such as the upcoming 29th Annual Fashion Show and Tea Spring Fling on Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m. A ticket for $35 includes the fashion show, light lunch and tea, several items for sale by various vendors and themed baskets galore available as opportunity drawings. The 29th Annual Fashion Show and Tea Spring Fling will be held at the Moreno Valley Senior Center, located at 25075 Fir Avenue in Moreno Valley, CA 92553. For more information or to pick up your tickets, call (951) 368-8653 or email SI MorenoValley@Soroptimist.net no later than Saturday, March 4. If you are interested in being a part of this group for women, there will be a final meet and greet scheduled on Wednesday, March 22 from 7-8 a.m. at Brandon’s Diner, located at 24626 Sunnymead Boulevard in Moreno Valley. Please direct your questions to (951) 242-5254.
