The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), donated over $729,000 and over 1,000 volunteer hours in the local community during the team’s 2016-2017 season.

The Reign auctioned multiple game-worn specialty jerseys throughout the season, raising over $306,000 to benefit multiple organizations including the Hope Reigns Foundation, Bob Hope USO Ontario, University of LaVerne Scholarship Fund, San Antonio Regional Hospital Foundation, American Red Cross San Bernardino County Chapter, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Foundation, Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley and The Be Perfect Foundation.

The Reign and its charitable wing, the Hope Reigns Foundation, make it a priority to give back to youth, families and schools in the Inland Empire.  During the 2016-17 season, the Reign fulfilled over 400 requests including ticket and merchandise donations and over $425,000 in donations to nonprofit organizations including Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Toys for Tots and local schools. The Hope Reigns Foundation and the Reign’s partners also raised over $100,000 for local organizations.

This season, the Reign introduced two exciting elements to their in-game experience. The new 50/50 raffle generated over $270,000 and the new mobile silent auction platform, where fans could bid on signed memorabilia and game experiences on their mobile devices, produced over $47,000 for the Hope Reigns Foundation.

On October 6, the Reign hosted their first Cool School game, a morning preseason game at Citizens Business Bank Arena focused on the importance of learning, school spirit and following your dreams in front of over 4,700 local students. The Reign also registered over 30,000 students for Read to Reign, a new reading program introduced last season to encourage kids to read.

Since the team’s inception, the Reign continue to give support to the men and women of the Armed Forces. This season featured Military Appreciation Night presented by the Bob Hope USO and Ontario International Airport Authority and the team honored the We Care Hero of the Night at every home game. The Reign also hosted families during Holiday Adopt-A-Family and provided a VIP experience for members of the Wounded Warrior Project.

In the community, the Reign staff and players registered over 1,000 volunteer hours including visits to the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, Danbury School, Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House, American Red Cross, Alcott Elementary and also hosted multiple book and food drives during the season. The Reign staff and players also participated in the annual Hope Reigns Foundation Golf Tournament, the Reign Gala Benefiting the Be Perfect Foundation, Holiday Adopt-A-Family, Ontario Reign Great Strides 5K Run and Walk and Temecula Valley Inline Hockey Association coaching clinics.
