Parents: Know What to Expect After a Big Earthquake

Students and staff know what to do during and after a big earthquake, but what about parents? How will you reunite with your children? Phones won't work, so it's important that you know beforehand what to expect. Each school has a plan in place, but it requires parents to do several important things: 1. Stay calm. We will not hand over children to people who just yell the loudest. 2. Be patient. Staff will work as quickly as they can, but our first priority is student safety, not speed. 3. Bring ID. We must know that each student is leaving with the right adult. 4. Keep your emergency card information updated. We will not send a child away with someone who is not listed on the emergency card. After a big earthquake, it's vitally important that adults stay calm and set the right example for children.
