Renown CNN and radio talk show host, Roland Martin, was the keynote speaker at the African American Event held on April 8, 2015 at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center and presented by the African American Advisory Council (AAAC) and the Moreno Valley Unified School District. The journalist and syndicated columnist and also currently host of the News One Now, weekday morning news show, gave a stirring and thought-provoking speech, stimulating the crowd of about 250 attendees. The graduate of Texas A&M University the Lousiana Baptist University, challenged the listeners to increase the level of education in local children by simply having them read a book a day, and strive to make something more of themselves. Our parents and grandparents opened those doors years ago, and we should now strive go through those opened doors while opening new doors today, here in Moreno Valley. It all starts with just a handful of people, not 100s, just a few, who want to see better for their children and grandchildren. What can our children 50 years from now about us? Did WE make a difference?
