While students are soaking up the last weeks of their summer, teachers are hitting the books in preparation for their classrooms to be full again. Throughout the summer Moreno Valley Unified’s Professional Development Center has been bustling with activity.
District educators have been learning the latest in a variety of professional development courses. From Chromebooks to new textbooks, teachers are working hard to be better prepared for the coming school year.
A few college students were also present as they prepare to take on the roles of AVID tutors in our schools.
“The summer professional development is one part of MVUSD’s commitment to improving the learning and lives of our students,” said Dr. Sue Buster, Director of Professional Development and Digital Learning.
Over the course of the summer, the Professional Development Center had about 2,800 participants in various offerings. Many teachers attended multiple sessions.
“As a former teacher I know how important professional development is to our teachers and students. It ensures our educators maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills to better serve all students,” stated Board of Education Clerk Susan Smith.
