A routine security system inspection at a Moreno Valley Fire Station this week turned out to be anything but routine when a man arrived at the station needing immediate medical attention for his mother.
Moreno Valley Fire Battalion Chief Mark Williams was doing a security walk through at Fire Station 99 with a representative from Stanley Security when the man arrived at the station with his mother. The woman was suffering from a life threatening cardiac emergency and needed emergency medical care.
Firefighters assigned to Station 99 were out on a call, and BC Williams and the Stanley Security representative were the only ones in the station.
With the station’s firefighters unavailable, BC Williams called the closest paramedic Engine Company for back-up and had the Stanley Security assist him with Basic Life Support treatment until paramedics arrived.
Thanks to the quick action by BC Williams and the civilian, the patient was stabilized and taken to the hospital for treatment.
