CSHS Claims Two League Championships

MORENO VALLEY>> Canyon Springs High School has made strides with two of the school's sports teams including the wrestling team and the girls basketball team. Both teams have won Inland Valley League championships. The girl's basketball team struggled in the non-league tournaments against some of the best teams around, but Coach Gail Hale said that intentionally tough nonleague schedule prepared them well to just dominate in league play, finishing 9-1. The team will no head to CIF playoffs, making it the 13th league title for the Cougar girls in the last 15 years. The Cougar wrestling team won their 8th consecutive undefeated league title, which makes it their 22nd overall league crown. Tim McGillivray, Public Information Officer of Moreno Valley Unified School District, said Coach Jason Lowe couldn’t be more proud of his team. “This year’s team is very young,” Lawson said. “With seven freshmen and three sophomores in the starting varsity line up, the present and future look bright.”
