The Sunnymead Ranch community in Moreno Valley honored all U.S. veterans of all wars on Saturday, Nov. 7. The ceremony was held at its lakeside Veteran's Memorial Garden with many members of the community in attendance. Robert Riddick with the Veteran's Committee conducted the event, with U.S. Army veteran John Calley, outgoing Chairperson of the Veteran's Committee sharing some of his memories of past wars. The guest speaker was U.S. Air Force Col. Russell Muncy, Base Commander of March Air Reserve Base, who spoke of the dedication and sacrifice of so many of our veterans over the years. Members of the Canyon Springs High School ROTC presented the colors and performed the official flag raising ceremony, with bagpiper Tim Burke providing music on the bagpipes. The event concluded with the release of 21 white doves, which circled overhead in a clear blue sky before moving on.
