The City of Moreno Valley will host a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 16, to discuss proposed Capital Projects totaling $25.1 million and the financing of these projects. The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the City Hall Council chambers. The proposed projects have been planned for the past two years in the 2014 and 2015 Moreno Valley Utility Distribution System plan. The design and construction of the Kitching Substation and feeders will increase capacity in the South Industrial Area and totals $17.7 million, city leaders said in a release. Projects that are said to improve reliability throughout the entire Moreno Valley electric system and increase capacity at the Moreno Valley Substation located on Moreno Beach Dr. total $7.5 million. The city is considering a number of options to fund the projects that include cash funding and bond financing alternatives. At the direction of the City Council, a Town Hall Meeting has been scheduled to provide an additional opportunity for Moreno Valley residents to join the discussion related to the Moreno Valley Utility's proposal to fund and complete electric system infrastructure projects to increase capacity for new customers to connect to the system in the City's South Industrial area and to increase system reliability throughout the utility for all Moreno Valley Utility customers. Proposed Financing for the MVU Projects totals $25.1 million. The Moreno Valley Utility Distribution System Planning is for the years of 2014 - 2018.
