TownGate Elementary School presents at National PBIS Conference

A newly-awarded Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Gold Medal school, our own TownGate Elementary School is now showcasing their behavior programs with school leaders from around the nation during a presentation at the 2017 National PBIS Leadership Forum in Chicago.

TownGate's session, earlier today, was presented by Counselor Tina Arias, Teacher Veronica Murga, Librarian Esther Layne, Principal Paula Rynders, PBIS Coach Diane LeMasters, Teacher Audrey Butler, and Teacher Yolanda Perry. It explored the 'Check-In Check-Out' intervention, used for students who may not respond to a more basic approach to their behavior.

The school provided details on their implementation of the program they call The Compass Club, a nod to the school's mascot, The Navigators.

The presentation was a popular one, with standing room only.

MVUSD, a proud recipient of 33 PBIS medals this year, is happy to showcase and model our methods to districts from all over the country.
