Ranking in the top 15 for Best Colleges for Nursing in California, California Baptist University continuously looks for new ways to serve the local community. The newest venture in the College of Nursing comes in the form of the first-ever California Baptist University Mobile Health Clinic, a full-service clinic on wheels that will provide free and low-cost primary care services to underserved communities.

The 39-foot-long clinic was delivered to campus on March 21, and the Lancer community experienced a sneak peek of the clinic and its offerings.

Staffed by nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and students from CBU’s College of Nursing, the Mobile Health Clinic will offer a range of services including health screenings, immunizations, lab testing, diabetes care, treatment for acute and chronic illnesses, and more. By providing no-cost or low-cost primary and specialized care, the clinic will work to prevent emergency cases by providing access to early diagnosis and treatment before complications arise.

“We recognize the need to take healthcare to our neighbors, and introducing CBU’s Mobile Health Clinic to our community is an important step in helping people gain access to services,” said Dr. Karen Bradley, dean of the CBU College of Nursing. “The mobile clinic also will provide a setting that offers diverse learning experiences for our students.”

The mobile clinic was ordered from Mission Mobile Medical located in North Carolina. Its $365,000 cost was made possible through a grant and gifts from generous donors, including the Messner and Downs families from Downs Energy Fuel and Lubricants.

The Mobile Health Clinic is expected to begin operating at the start of the new school year, Fall 2023, and will initially serve the underserved areas of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, with eventual plans to expand to all of Southern California. Actual locations will be determined by need and will be identified through CBU’s partnerships with community-based churches.
