Seven MVUSD Schools to Add Popular Full-Day Kindergarten for 2016-17

Parents want it, and many children need it. So Moreno Valley Unified School District is bringing the full-day kindergarten option to seven more elementary schools this fall: Chaparral Hills, Hendrick Ranch, Hidden Springs, Midland, Ridge Crest, Seneca and Sugar Hill elementary schools will offer full-day K, joining Box Springs, Cloverdale and Honey Hollow elementaries, which began full-day kindergarten this school year. “We knew there was a demand for full-day programs,” said Chief Academic Officer Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, “but even I was surprised that the full-day classrooms at those first three schools filled up immediately. So adding full-day kindergarten to more schools was an obvious choice.” Kedziora said that many children of kindergarten age are ready for a longer school day. “Kindergartners are not all the same age or at the same stage of cognitive development,” he explained. “A month or two older or younger can make quite a difference in children’s readiness to move from half-day to full-day kindergarten. Just as with all other students, one size does not fit all kindergartners, either.” Registration for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten will begin Monday, March 7, with pre-registration packets available starting Monday, Feb. 1, from MVUSD Centralized Registration, which is located at 23301 Dracaea Ave. Children must be five-years old by Sept. 1, 2016, in order to be registered for the 2016-17 school year. Children born between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2, 2011, may be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK). For more information about Kindergarten and TK, please visit our website at www.mvusd.net>Parents>How to Enroll My Child. To make a registration appointment (recommended), call Centralized Registration at 951-571-7690.
