The Moreno Valley City Council unanimously approved construction contracts for Phase Two of the ongoing Pavement Rehabilitation Program during the October 4, 2022, City Council meeting.

The program’s second phase will condense the final five years of road projects into an additional nine months’ worth of work. Construction is expected to begin in 2023.

“Phase Two will complete our historic Pavement Rehabilitation Program as scheduled,” said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. “I want to thank the community for their support and patience as we continue to build first-class roads throughout Moreno Valley.”

The Moreno Valley City Council first approved the Pavement Rehabilitation Program on February 1, 2022. The program allocates a monumental $50 million toward rehabilitating nearly 190 miles of roads throughout Moreno Valley.

Moreno Valley’s Pavement Rehabilitation Program condenses ten years of work into only 18 months. It is the largest Public Works project in the City’s history.

The City Council approved the construction contracts for Phase One in June 2022, and road work officially began in September 2022. Phase One has an expected completion date of early 2023.

Funding for this allocation comes from General Fund savings made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) fund, which offset the City’s Public Safety costs.
