March Field Park’s brand-new soccer field turf, located at 15415 6th Street, officially opened to the public during a special grand opening ceremony on Monday, December 18.

Mayor Ulises Cabrera and the Moreno Valley City Council cut the ribbon to re-open the arena, which features state-of-the-art synthetic turf perfect for soccer players of all ages.

“This beautiful soccer arena at March Field Park will continue to serve as a hub for our youth to learn important life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition,” said Mayor Cabrera. “This grand opening highlights our ongoing commitment to creating safe, enjoyable, and exciting outdoor spaces that foster healthy lifestyles and civic pride, and represents another milestone in our goal to seek additional opportunities for playing fields throughout Moreno Valley. I want to thank City Staff for another job well done.”

The arena features a Shaw Turf Hybrid Synthetic Turf system, one of the most durable products on the market. City staff installed nearly 16,000 square feet of synthetic turf during the rapid 30-day renovation.

Hundreds of community members attended the grand opening event, including the local Fundación Deportiva Universal soccer team, who were among the first to test the new turf.

Originally built as a roller hockey arena in 2002, the March Field Park soccer arena was first opened in 2012 to create a dedicated space for soccer enthusiasts throughout Moreno Valley.

The soccer arena turf enhancement project is part of the ongoing $6 million Parks Rehabilitation & Refurbishment Program, the largest parks renovation project in the City’s history. Under the Program, each of Moreno Valley’s 34 parks will receive exciting upgrades, from parking lot resurfacing to playground enhancements. Click here to watch our exclusive recap, and to learn more about exciting upgrades coming to all 34 Moreno Valley parks, visit moval.org/parksplan.

Once completed, the Program will ensure that all Moreno Valley parks remain beautiful gathering spaces for the community for decades to come.
