The Guidance Team at Bayside is fulfilling the school’s motto, “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” by spending the beginning of the year building positive relationships across campus. During the Guidance Team’s first staff meeting, they introduced all employees to relationship building activities that can be used with their students. As the school year started, about 250 students completed icebreakers to learn about their peers and teachers.
Each class period had different activities that ranged from autobiographical poems to classroom challenges. Students also learned about setting goals for the school year and dressing for success.
The students have had positive reactions to start off the year. One teacher shared that a student said “this feels like family.”
