MORENO VALLEY>> October is the "Kick Off" of the 2016/2017 Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month Program. The program honors college or trade school bound seniors for their character, integrity, love of learning and involvement in school activities, athletics and community service. During each month between October and April, the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce will recognize a student from Canyon Springs High School, March Mountain High School, Moreno Valley High School, Valley View High School, Vista Del Lago High School, Citrus Hill High School, Rancho Verde High School, Val Verde High School, Middle College High School, Bayside and Val Verde Academy. The students are selected by the administration at each school, following the guidelines set by the MVCC Education Committee. The students are honored at a luncheon with their parents, school administrators, teachers and community leaders. MVCC recognizes a total of 100 students during the school year. At the end of the school year in May, all students are honored at the "Student of the Year" dinner. One student from each school will be recognized as "Student of the Year" and will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the MVCC. The funds to award these scholarships are raised by sponsorships, local businesses and organizations. "Student of the Month" luncheons are open to the community and cost $15.
