All seniors in MVUSD now have the opportunity to take a Mathematics Reasoning with Connections (MRWC) course as part of the District’s goal to increase math achievement. The specially designed 4th-year class addresses the need for stronger mathematics preparation as students transition to college and careers from high school. The curriculum was developed by a group of math professors and educators from the California State University, University of California and California Community College systems along with math specialists at County Offices of Education and local school districts.

The course is being funded by an i3 (Investing in Innovation) grant received by the Riverside County Office of Education. High School math teachers Richard Macpherson, Steven Barrios, Kristin Xolapa and Yvonne Neiburger are implementing the course at Canyon Springs, Moreno Valley, Valley View and Vista Del Lago High Schools.
