On Feb. 20 at 8:11 p.m., officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision on Alessandro Blvd. and Chagall Court, in the city of Moreno Valley. Officers, Moreno Valley Fire personnel, and AMR arrived within minutes and discovered a vehicle that struck a tree after it was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Moreno Valley Fire used the jaws of life to extricate a passenger from the vehicle. That passenger is in critical condition at a Riverside County Regional Medical Center. The driver, who is a juvenile is also being treated for an injury. A juvenile passenger was transported to the hospital where he is in critical, but stable condition. Two other passengers, an adult and a juvenile, were treated for minor injuries at area hospitals. The Moreno Valley Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the collision and are investigating the collision. Alessandro Blvd. was blocked in both direction from Frederick St. to Graham St. for approximately six hours while members of the Moreno Valley Police Department’s Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team conducted their investigation. The roadway was blocked with assistance from Moreno Valley Police volunteers. Officers investigating the collision determined the vehicle was traveling westbound on Alessandro Blvd. at Chagall Court, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided into a truck. The vehicle then struck the north curb and collided into a tree. The occupants of the truck were not injured. The Department is asking anyone with information regarding this incident or anyone that may have witnessed the collision to contact the Moreno Valley Police Department Traffic Division at (951) 486-6900. After hours and on weekends the Department may be reached at (951) 776-1099.
