While many people think Cinco de Mayo marks Mexico’s independence, the true call for freedom began on September 16, 1810, when Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla rang the church bells in the town of Dolores and rallied his community to stand up against Spanish rule. His powerful “Grito de Dolores” ignited a movement that changed the course of history.
We celebrate that spirit every day of the year. But El Grito in MoVal is a chance for families and friends to gather to enjoy free entertainment and share the joy of culture and togetherness.
