Moreno Valley’s own Avocado Burger recently opened its doors to help the AYSO. The Avocado Burger first opened in Moreno Valley back in April of 2016 and is owned by Jose Ruperto Nunez and two of his brothers. During this special event they allowed the soccer league to come in and hold a fundraiser for their benefit.
The planning began in February of this year when the soccer season first started. The girls on the team contact friends, family, and local community members to help raise funds and participate in the event.
The goal of the fundraiser was not only to help raise money for the soccer league but to teach the girls some important values. This experience showed the girls how to socialize, be responsible and appreciation.
Tickets were sold for the next few months at $10 a plate in which they were able to select their food from the offered options by the restaurant.
On the evening of April 17th, the girls in the AYSO soccer league came together to provide a much needed service to the buyers of their tickets. Each girl was responsible for serving tables and providing customer service to the restaurant’s patrons.
It was a bustle of noise and entertainment to get to watch these young women collect orders, fill drinks, and serve food with pride. They worked well with the Avocado Burger staff and assisted in providing a great dining experience.
Elva Mendez, one of the young women in the AYSO soccer league said, “Helping out at Avocado Burger was definitely a great experience. Getting to interact with new people and working together with my team somewhere other than a soccer field was great. The staff was so helpful in anything we needed and I would for sure want to do something like that again.”
All together the girls were able to sell 150 tickets and raised over $600. The funds raised will be going towards the tournament and team party.
There was a total of 14 girls who participated in this special fundraising event and it was a first time for the team and the restaurant. When asked about the event Eva Cardenas, a participant, commented, “Being our first time, it gave us a great pleasure to help out a nonprofit organization.”
