Riverside University Health System – Medical Center (RUHS –MC) was named a High-Performing Hospital today by U.S. News & World Report as part of its 2024-2025 Best Hospitals awards.

The Medical Center was recognized for quality care in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), kidney failure and stroke. The distinction is the highest honor awarded to a hospital?as part of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.

“This award is a reflection of the skill and passion that our staff bring to the job, in service to the best health and care of our patients,” said Dr. Alexandra Clark, RUHS Chief Medical Officer. “We will continue to work every day to advance efforts to serve and provide all-encompassing care for the people of Riverside County.”

Nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions were evaluated with objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality?rates,?preventable complications and level of nursing care.

Additionally, U.S. News included data this year examining care provided to patients with Medicare Advantage insurance and services provided to outpatients. The change nearly doubled the number of patients?included?in?the?annual?data?analysis.?

The annual Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and their healthcare providers in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.

“Providing quality health services to Riverside County residents is one of the most critical priorities we have in this county. I commend RUHS – MC for its mission to service, for its innovative work in the healthcare field and for ultimately standing among the top hospitals in the United States. This an achievement to be very proud of,” said Riverside County Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez, whose Fifth District includes the hospital.

In December, RUHS-MC was named by U.S. News as one of the best hospitals in the nation for maternity care.
