Mall and Auto Group Award Scholarships and Cars

Nine finalists representing their respective senior classes from each of the four comprehensive high schools in the Moreno Valley Unified School District were awarded scholarships or a car Thursday, May 30, 2019, in Moreno Valley. Finalists gathered at the Moreno Valley Auto Mall at Moss. Bros. Toyota in front of friends, family, and representatives from the Moreno Valley Unified School District and School Board including Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, Susan Smith, Jesus M. Holguin, and Cleveland Johnson.

Dezi Vera from Moreno Valley High School was the big prize winner taking home a Nissan Versa. Vera plans to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the fall. The $1,000 scholarship winners were Luisa Ruiz-Perez (Vista del Lago High School), Alexandra Velasquez (Valley View High School), Chelsea Berganza (Moreno Valley High School) and Yashila Hanks (Canyon Springs High School). The winners of the $500 scholarship were Jocelyn Quiroz (Canyon Springs High School), Elizabet Rodriguez (Moreno Valley High School), Samantha Martinez (Valley View High School), and Vanessa Chan (Vista del Lago High School).

Glenn Moss, President of Moss Bros. Auto Group stated, “I am thrilled to see the creativity and passion of these students come to life in their photos and videos. This is such a fun way to honor our students and get them started towards life’s next adventures.”

The scholarship was open to all seniors at the four comprehensive high schools in the Moreno Valley Unified School District. To compete, students participated in a five week Instagram photo challenge. The scholarship recipients were selected based on creativity and fan engagement. Dezi Vera was selected to win the vehicle in a random drawing of all finalists. Moss Bros. Auto Group and the Moreno Valley Auto Mall wishes all students continued success throughout your college career and beyond.
