-- The Moreno Valley City Council and the City Clerk’s Office held a Swearing-In Ceremony on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in the Moreno Valley Council Chamber.

During the ceremony, the Mayor and two members of the Council were sworn-in to office: Ulises Cabrera will take his oath for his second term as Mayor; Elena Baca-Santa Cruz will renew her oath as Council Member representing District 1; and, Erlan Gonzalez will take his oath to represent District 3.

Mayor Ulises Cabrera, a long-time Moreno Valley resident, has served on the Council since 2017 and was originally sworn-in as Mayor in 2022.

"I am truly honored and humbled to be entrusted with serving our incredible community for another term," said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. "From top to bottom—inside and out—our community is strong, resilient, and continuing to grow stronger every day. Our local economy is thriving, our neighborhoods are vibrant, and the spirit of our residents is unmatched. Together, we have laid a foundation of progress, and I am confident that our future holds even greater opportunities to build a city that works better and better for all of us. I look forward to working closely with our residents, stakeholders, and my colleagues on the council to further improve the quality of life for everyone in Moreno Valley."

The November 5 election also resulted in the re-seating of Elena Baca-Santa Cruz, who has served on the Moreno Valley City Council since 2022. Representing District 1, she has been a Moreno Valley resident since 1990.

"I’m incredibly honored and grateful for the trust the voters have placed in me,” stated Council Member Elena Baca-Santa Cruz. “This campaign has always been about listening to our community, addressing its priorities, and creating a brighter future for everyone in Moreno Valley. I’m excited to continue building on the progress we’ve made and to work tirelessly to ensure that our city remains a place of opportunity, unity, and growth.”

Council newcomer Erlan Gonzalez, who has served as Chair of the Moreno Valley Planning Commission, was elected to fill the seat for District 3.

“This is a responsibility and privilege that I do not take lightly,” says Council Member-Elect Erlan Gonzalez. “I’m excited to work with my fellow council members to address the needs of our residents, and I’m committed to listening, learning, and working tirelessly to ensure that Moreno Valley grows stronger and more vibrant for all.”

Moreno Valley residents are invited to attend the ceremony, which takes place Tuesday, December 10, at 6 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers, located at 14177 Frederick Street. For more information about the Swearing-In Ceremony, contact the Moreno Valley City Council Office at 951.413.3008.
