Mayor's Message: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at El Grito 2021

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

September 15 marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, as well as the eve of Mexican Independence Day. Our Hispanic/Latino residents and business leaders are such an important part of this wonderful City.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than at the annual El Grito de Independencia festival, happening this Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at our brand-new Civic Center Amphitheater, located at 14075 Frederick Street.

We’re pulling out all the stops to make this celebration one to remember. We’ll have mariachi music, ballet Folklorico performances, amazing food, unique vendors, a place for kids to play, and so much more. The centerpiece will be a reenactment of “El Grito de Dolores,” the legendary battle cry and iconic symbol of Mexico’s independence. We will also receive a live feed of the El Grito event broadcast directly from Mexico City.

What’s more, admission is completely free.

I invite you to celebrate with us. It will be a great time, and I look forward to seeing you there. Don’t forget your lawn chairs and dancing shoes!
