Mayor's Message: Class of 2021

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Coronavirus has undoubtedly created many challenges for the graduating Class of 2021. Still, in the face of adversity, thousands of Moreno Valley students will be taking the stage and graduating this month.

I am immensely proud of the students of Moreno Valley, who managed to succeed while learning from a distance this year. I am equally proud of the parents and teachers who navigated their way through uncharted waters to educate the young people of our community. As a teacher by profession, I fully understand the challenges the pandemic has presented to our educators.

Therefore, in celebration of the Class of 2021, MoVal’s iconic M on Box Springs Mountain will be sporting the school colors of all the MVUSD and VVUSD high schools in the City from June 7-11. The colors will appear on the evenings of their graduation events. On evenings like June 7, with three graduations, the school colors will alternate at one-minute intervals. So be sure to look for your school colors, and know that our entire community shares your pride and excitement.

And finally, to the members of the Class of 2021, I wish you my sincere congratulations, and I want to remind you of the unique opportunity you have to affect change into a new post-pandemic world.
