Mayor's Message: Community Demonstration Garden

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

One of my goals as Mayor is to ensure the health and wellness of all Moreno Valley residents. That’s why we’re creating more parks, more trails, and more community events that keep our City beautiful and cultivate community pride.

But we’re just getting started. I am excited to announce the grand opening of the Community Demonstration Garden on Wednesday, February 23.

The Community Demonstration Garden, a vital component of the ongoing Healthy MoVal initiative, is a unique space that allows residents the opportunity to learn sustainable gardening and landscaping techniques.

Here, you can learn how to create the perfect sustainable garden, plant fruit trees and seasonably appropriate vegetables, compost, create seedling racks, and so much more. Everything you learn here can be replicated at your own home using materials found at local retailers.

The English writer Thomas Fuller once said, “He who plants trees, loves others beside himself.”

My hope is the Community Demonstration Garden will allow the community to learn skills that will continue to make Moreno Valley a fantastic place to live and thrive.

The Community Demonstration Garden is centrally located next to the Civic Center Amphitheater and the Conference and Recreation Center at 14075 Frederick Street.

Join us on Wednesday, February 23, from 2 pm to 3 pm as we celebrate the grand opening of this incredible space.
